AI Search Going "Woke" With Your Digital Identity & Personal Data
Elon Musk warned the Fox News host that the artificial intelligence tools developed by OpenAI may be “untruthful” if they’re trained to be “politically correct.” He also mused about creating an alternative to their ChatGPT bot, referring to this hypothetical product as “TruthGPT.” (Musk sat on the board of OpenAI when it was a nonprofit research organization but resigned in 2018 — now it’s a for-profit company with heavy investment from Microsoft.)
Musk further described AI as a potential “danger to the public” that ought to be subject to government oversight, a stance somewhat contrary to his ongoing beefs with various regulatory agencies over stuff like his efforts to implant computer chips in human brains. He also proposed that the government have a “contingency plan” for shutting down a powerful uncontrolled AI. In another segment of the same show, Tucker Carlson summarized Musk’s comments in far more extreme terms, baselessly suggesting that the Democratic party somehow controls OpenAI and saying that Musk viewed this as a “threat to human civilization”
When the creators of AI chatbots such as ChatGPT or Google's Bard want to 'teach' them about the world in order to accurately answer questions, they use various news and social media sources to 'scrape' content which then 'trains' said models. This is why Twitter owner Elon Musk just began throttling accounts which consume a massive amount of content on a daily basis - as it became a free and valuable resource for engineers.
The latest lawsuit alleges that OpenAI crawled the web to amass huge amounts of data, including vast quantities taken from social-media sites. OpenAI’s propertiatary AI corpus of personal data, WebText2, for example, scraped huge amounts of data from Reddit posts and the websites they linked to, the lawsuit claims.
The Identity Security Alliance (IDSA), a non-profit group of identity and security vendors, solution providers, and practitioners, has found that almost a fifth of businesses – 17% – see managing digital identity as a top priority in their security program.
AI bias is becoming more common as the technology applications are increasing. This bias can be attributed to the aberration in the AI programs' output due to biases in the data used for training the algorithms. Similarly, assumptions made during algorithm development can also lead to AI bias.

A Google Spokesperson's statement to Business Insider dismissed the idea that the search engine intended to impress a political agenda on its billion plus users.
"Search is not used to set a political agenda and we don't bias our results toward any political ideology. Every year, we issue hundreds of improvements to our algorithms to ensure they surface high-quality content in response to users' queries. We continually work to improve Google Search and we never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment," read the statement.
“They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!”
Google’s algorithm is still somewhat of a mystery, and results may be influenced by cookies, past search requests or location. Google denies that it does. “Search is not used to set a political agenda and we do not bias our results toward any political ideology,” the company said last week. “We never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment.”
More than 100 factors – from where the user is located to how recently a given webpage was updated – contribute to how highly a certain result may appear. In addition, the company’s famous PageRank algorithm, developed by co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, plays a role in determining the authoritativeness of a given source. For example, Google’s tendency to favour recency, or “freshness”, incentivises companies to create their webpages with metadata keywords that the search engine can easily read. If the results differ from person to person, that could be because they may be using a browser in incognito mode, which deletes the cookies and other third-party tracking software. Or they may be searching from a different location, triggering Google’s reflex to return local results. They may also simply be performing a search slightly later in time than another, said Christo Wilson, a computer science professor at Northeastern University who has studied Google’s search practices for six years.

Google blocks some election-related GAS key-word suggestions in April 2020
In a blog post, Google said it was removing suggestions that could be viewed as being for or against a particular candidate or party. The search engine also is blocking suggestions that could be viewed as claims about "the integrity or legitimacy of electoral processes."

On the same day as Google's announcement, Twitter said it was introducing restrictions on elected-related posts, including to tweets claiming victory for a candidate ahead of official results or attempts to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.
Facebook also recently announced stricter policies around election-related posts as well as on new political ads in the week before Election Day. Twitter, YouTube and Facebook removed both legitimate and not legitimate information about CoVid-19.
